The BroadBand Light (BBL™) IPL technology is a modern, non-invasive light therapy for skin rejuvenation and improvement of skin quality. This technology has been around for many years and is commonly known as IPL. However, the company Sciton has trademarked this specific application under the name BBL™. Its best-known systems include Sciton BBL HERO, Sciton BBL HEROic, Sciton Joule BBL and Sciton BBL Forever Young. The principle of the treatment remains the same. BBL uses intense pulsed light (IPL) that penetrates deep into the skin and specifically targets pigments, vessels and damaged skin structures. At the same time, it stimulates the skin’s natural regeneration and boosts collagen production.

BBL treatment can be used to address age spots, sun spots, sun damage, pigmentation irregularities, redness, couperose, rosacea, broken capillaries, fine lines and wrinkles, as well as dull or uneven skin. The treatment is suitable for various areas such as the face, neck, décolleté, hands or arms and can be individually adapted to each skin type.
Before the treatment, the skin is thoroughly cleansed and prepared. During the procedure, the BBL device delivers short, controlled pulses of light to the skin, targeting specific structures without damaging the skin surface. A session typically lasts around 15 minutes. As this is a non-invasive treatment, there is usually no downtime, allowing patients to resume their normal daily activities immediately afterwards. After the treatment, pigmentation spots may temporarily darken. This is a normal process, as the pigments move to the surface of the skin and naturally shed within 5 to 7 days.

Many patients notice a visible improvement in their skin after just one treatment. For optimal and long-lasting results, several sessions are usually recommended. Regular BBL treatments can help refine skin texture, improve elasticity and promote an even, radiant complexion. During a personal consultation, we carefully analyse your skin and create an individual treatment plan tailored to your needs and skin type. The cost of a BBL treatment depends on the treated area and the individual effort required.

FAQs on the topic BBL™ IPL

What is a BroadBand Light (BBL) treatment?

BroadBand Light (BBL) treatment is a modern form of IPL light therapy for skin rejuvenation and the treatment of pigmentation, redness and sun damage. The technology uses intense pulsed light that specifically targets pigments, blood vessels and skin cells. One of the most well-known systems is the BBL HERO by Sciton. This IPL technology also stimulates collagen production and promotes the skin’s natural regeneration, helping the skin appear fresher, smoother and more even.

What skin concerns can be treated with BBL?

BBL light therapy (IPL technology) is suitable for treating a wide range of skin concerns, including:
• Pigmentation and age spots
• Sun spots and sun damage
• Redness and couperose
• Rosacea
• Broken capillaries on the face
• Fine lines and wrinkles
• Uneven skin tone
• Dull skin

The treatment is commonly performed on the face, neck, décolleté and hands.

How does BBL technology work?

During a BBL treatment with systems such as the BBL HERO, short pulses of light are delivered into the skin. The light is absorbed by pigments or blood vessels and converted into heat. This process helps reduce unwanted skin structures while simultaneously stimulating skin renewal and collagen production.

How long does a BBL treatment take?

A BBL skin treatment usually takes around 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the treated area. Smaller areas such as the face or hands can be treated particularly quickly.

Is a BBL treatment painful?

Most patients find BBL light therapy well tolerated. During the treatment, a mild warming sensation or a brief snapping feeling on the skin may occur.

Is there any downtime after a BBL treatment?

IPL skin rejuvenation is a non-invasive treatment that typically involves little to no downtime. Most patients can return to work or their normal daily activities immediately after the procedure. Make-up can usually be applied on the same day.

When will I see results after a BBL treatment?

Initial improvements in skin quality are often visible after the first treatment. Pigmentation may temporarily darken and will naturally shed within 5 to 7 days. For optimal results, multiple sessions are usually recommended.

How much does a BBL IPL treatment cost?

Book a non-binding consultation at BEAUTYCLINIC to receive detailed information about the cost of a BBL IPL treatment. Most treatments range between CHF 400.00 and 600.00 per session.

BBL™ IPL treatment CHF 200.00–1000.00
