Wrinkles are visible signs of ageing. A distinction must be made between different types of wrinkles:
Superficial wrinkles usually begin from the age of 30 and become increasingly noticeable as fine lines. These become visible below the eyelid or to the side of the eyes (laugh lines), for example. With increasing age, these wrinkles become deeper and deeper, turning into medium-deep wrinkles.
These are caused by a combination of facial expressions and loss of elasticity in the skin. These include laugh lines (crow's feet), forehead wrinkles, wrinkles on the upper lip, etc. Deeper wrinkles such as the nasolabial fold (wrinkle between the upper lip and nose) or the glabellar fold (frown line on the forehead) form as a result of increasing skin ageing and the effects of the weather. In some cases, there are also deep wrinkles between the chin and lower lip or wrinkles at the side of the mouth in the facial area.
Wrinkles are generally easy to treat today. For optimal results, each wrinkle requires individual treatment. The smallest, incipient wrinkles respond very well to the local application of cosmetics as well as treatment regimens for skin rejuvenation such as laser, IPL systems, radio frequency (Morpheus8), hydrafacial, peelings and microdermabrasion.
Medium-deep wrinkles can be treated excellently with injections, provided they are purely mimic and not very visible on a relaxed face. Occasionally, the use of so-called filling materials such as hyaluronic acid and autologous fat also helps to achieve an optimal result.
