The idea is simple and ingenious: Special threads with extremely fine barbs are pushed under the skin, where they anchor themselves. The entire facial area can then be lifted and thus tightened by pulling on the thread. The midface regains its volume, deep eyebrows move upwards again and the corners of the mouth no longer "droop". The procedure is performed within a few minutes under local anesthesia. The procedure is painless, and you can return to work immediately afterwards. The sensational thing about the technique is that the patient (if they want to) can experience and help decide how their face changes during the procedure.
This method is known as the "Russian lift", "Russian threads", "Brazil lift", thread lift™, Silhouette lift™, Happy lift™ or Aptos lift™ – although all methods are basically the same technique. The differences lie in the material used, e.g., whether the sutures remain forever or dissolve, the way the barbs are arranged, etc.
In close cooperation with leading doctors in Brazil, France, and the USA, we have further developed the technique of "thread lifting": even less invasive, even simpler, even faster. We call this method the Silhouette Lift – a combination of a lifting effect and collagen synthesis. The threads are made of polylactic acid and slowly dissolve after a few weeks. This causes a pronounced stimulation of the connective tissue to form collagen, the skin is fixed in the new areas and volume is built up. These mechanisms mean that some of the results are immediately visible ("lifting effect"), while the face continues to optimize itself over weeks and months. This effect lasts for around two years before some of the results fade. Even then, however, the patient will look much better than before the treatment; the result will never return to the original state.
The Silhouette Lift is recommended for lifting the jaw and cheeks, the corners of the mouth, the nasolabial fold, the midface, the neck and the eyebrows. Depending on the patient's wishes, the face is also filled with autologous fat or other filling materials (Radiesse™, Sculptra™ or hyaluronic acid).

As with any surgical procedure, side effects can also occur with a "thread lift", although these are very rare: Slight swelling and "bruising" are common, but these may be covered up immediately. Complaints such as a feeling of tension and/or burning, redness, inflammation of the treated areas (extremely rare because an antibiotic is taken as a preventative measure), intolerance to the material used (extremely rare) can occur, but are very rare. Uneven or irregular results are also very rare and, should they occur, can always be easily rectified. In case of doubt, the stitches can be removed at any time.
Procedure of the Operation
Every treatment begins with a detailed consultation. Here, the patient's wishes are matched with the possibilities of the method, and the expected result is "sketched out". This gives the patient a rough idea of what their face will look like afterwards. It is often necessary to supplement the "thread lift" with additional treatments (e.g., botulinum toxin or filler). During the free consultation, the exact cost of the procedure can be determined.
On the day of the procedure, the patient should reserve approx. 1 hour, with the treatment itself taking approx. 30 minutes. The rest of the time is needed to prepare for and follow up on the procedure. We recommend using public transport or organizing a "pick-up service" – depending on the medication used, you may not be fully fit to drive immediately after the procedure. Once you have arrived home, it is advisable to cool the treated area. No further measures are necessary.
The cost of the procedure starts at CHF 1500.00 for 4 threads (usually sufficient for a good result). Depending on additional effort (more threads, fillers, botulinum toxin, etc.), the price may be higher.
