Short, high-energy light pulses break up the pigment particles of a tattoo, which are then "flushed" by macrophages, the body's clean-up cells, to the liver with the lymph flow and finally broken down. The advantage of the PicoPlus technology in contrast to other laser therapies is that the pigments are broken down so finely that they can be completely absorbed by the cleansing cells. Furthermore, the PicoPlus laser exerts its effect specifically on the color pigments, while the surrounding tissue remains unharmed. With PicoPlus technology, seven to ten sessions are usually sufficient to completely remove tattoos. The treatment can be repeated every eight weeks. Depending on the size of the tattoo, the session takes around 10-30 minutes.
