MonaLisa Touch is intended for women who suffer from problems with their vaginal mucosa such as dryness, itching, incontinence, burning or pain during sexual intercourse. The cause is a thinning of the vaginal mucosa, triggered by a lack of oestrogen. This hormone deficiency can often only occur locally in the genital area, although the oestrogen levels in the blood are still completely normal. The causes are constitution, lifestyle and age.

These problems can occur at a very early age – this problem is also known as vaginal atrophy, vulvovaginal atrophy or VVA. While symptomatic therapies such as hormone therapy, lubricants and oils have to be used permanently, MonaLisa Touch offers an effective and efficient alternative.

MonaLisa Touch is an innovative and safe laser treatment that gently stimulates the vaginal mucosa so that it regains its original properties. During the treatment, the patient sits relaxed on a treatment table. A probe is inserted into the vagina and the laser light is then applied to the entire vaginal canal. The treatment takes about 5-10 minutes and is completely painless, as the vaginal tube is insensitive to pain stimuli. For this reason, no local anaesthetic, anaesthesia or twilight sleep is required.

Side effects may occur in the form of very slight bleeding, but these will heal quickly. There may be slight discomfort in the vulva area during the treatment – but you will not feel any more than this. The laser pulses cause barely visible small injuries to the mucous membrane, which are then repaired by new mucous membrane cells. It is precisely this effect that makes the laser work, restoring the suppleness and initial moisture of the tissue.
