In some cases, the visual effect of these protrusions is intensified because the face underneath collapses. Ageing processes, but also genetic causes, often lead to these changes in the face, which make you look tired and exhausted.
The treatment of choice is surgery to remove the bags under the eyes. An invisible incision is made directly in the eyelid to remove the fat and tighten the area. This is a relatively harmless, minor surgical procedure under local anesthesia that takes around 30 minutes. As a rule, our patients are given an ultra-short twilight sleep so that they are completely unaware of the treatment itself. Afterwards, you can expect a bluish discoloration (bruising) for 1-2 weeks – we recommend working from home after a lower eyelid lift or even taking a few days off work.
In some cases, bags under the eyes in men can also be reduced by sculpting the transition from the midface to the lower eyelid more harmoniously. Fillers made from hyaluronic acid or autologous fat can be used to fill this area. The treatment takes a few minutes and lasts for months. Here too, we recommend our ultra-short twilight sleep, so that the treatment is pain-free.
