Athletes in particular prefer smoother skin because body hair affects the resistance of the wind or water (e.g., when cycling or swimming) and therefore requires more energy.

Body hair is often removed by shaving, waxing or epilation. However, the success of these methods is short-lived, and it is usually difficult to remove hair from the back and neck on your own. Our state-of-the-art permanent hair removal with IPL technology or laser removes the annoying hairs effectively and painlessly. We are welcoming more and more men to the BEAUTYCLINIC who have opted for IPL or laser hair removal.

How does hair removal work?

High-energy light (Intense Pulse Light: IPL) or laser (highly focused beam of light) penetrates the skin and is only absorbed by dark structures such as the hair root and hair follicle due to its specially selected wavelength spectrum. This enables a gentle and mostly painless treatment without damaging the skin. The light pulse only lasts a fraction of a second, but is sufficient to heat the hair follicles and thus permanently destroy the hair-forming cells.

The technique of permanent hair removal is now very well proven and mature. At the BEAUTYCLINIC, we use the most modern and efficient devices.

Which areas of the body can be treated

In principle, the method can be used on all parts of the body and works equally well on the whole body. The treatment is popular with men for removing unwanted hair from the face, neck, shoulders, back, chest and stomach, arms, armpits, intimate areas and legs. The best treatment results are achieved with dark hair containing a lot of pigment.

What is the difference between laser and IPL?

The main difference between IPL devices and lasers is the type of light. IPL is not a laser, but a broadband pulsed light. Both technologies target the melanin in the hair follicle, and both results are long-lasting. IPL devices do not have a selective light bandwidth like lasers, so IPL can heat up all the surrounding tissue and is more effective on light skin with darker hair. With lasers on the other hand (e.g., alexandrite, diode and YAG lasers), the light is concentrated on the hair follicle and is also suitable for darker skin tones.

The advantages of IPL light treatment

Because the light penetrates the skin, there are no allergic reactions or infections as with other hair removal methods such as shaving or waxing. The effectiveness and safety of IPL hair removal have been proven in clinical studies.

After hair removal

Immediately after the treatment, the skin may redden slightly and swell a little. This reaction subsides after a few hours. The skin is not damaged, so you can go about your usual activities immediately after the treatment. Thanks to the use of the latest technology, there are no side effects known from previous generations of devices.

FAQs on the topic Hair removal for men

Is IPL treatment painful?

During the procedure, a tingling or slightly stinging sensation may be felt. The intensity depends on the area being treated – thinner skin areas tend to be more sensitive. Most patients tolerate IPL treatment very well and report little to no pain.

How long does one session take?

Each light pulse treats an area of approximately 2 x 4 cm (8 square centimetres), which can contain several thousand hairs. The total duration depends on the size of the area being treated.

How many treatments are needed?

Only hairs in the early growth phase are targeted. Since not all hairs grow at the same time, multiple treatments are required for effective removal. Typically, 6–8 sessions are necessary for long-term results.

Can I remove hair before the treatment?

Waxing and tweezing should be avoided for at least 4 weeks prior to treatment, as these methods remove the hair root, which is essential for IPL to be effective. Shaving is allowed.

How much does permanent hair removal cost?

The cost of permanent hair removal varies depending on the area of the body being treated. During your consultation, a detailed cost breakdown will be provided.
