The latest trend in medicine is moving away from pure fillers (hyaluronic acid) and towards collagen and skin boosters. These stimulate the skin to renew itself naturally. Here it needs a "nudge", which is achieved by injections either directly into the skin or underneath it. While polylactate (Sculptra) and autologous blood (PRP) have been known for many years to stimulate collagen formation, there are new substances that start exactly where the input is needed to regenerate the skin – in the cell itself. These substances are called polynucleotides and exosomes.
Exosomes are located in the cells and are released by them in the form of small vesicles to communicate with neighboring cells – similar to a "letter" with information. The neighboring cells react to this letter by converting the contents and producing new proteins. In this way, cells communicate with each other and can react very quickly to viruses and other harmful influences. There are exosomes that are particularly important for cell regeneration, and it is precisely these that are used in aesthetic medicine. They are dissolved in a liquid and are introduced into the skin as part of mesotherapy. The skin then regenerates quickly and visibly, and the effect is stronger than treatment with autologous blood (PRP).
The treatment takes approx. 30 minutes and is hardly painful; if desired, we can carry it out in our ultra-short twilight sleep. The treatment should be carried out 3-4 times every 2-3 weeks and then repeated every three months for maintenance. As this is regenerative medicine, where the body has to "work" itself, it takes 2-3 months for visible results.
The areas of application for exosomes are diverse and range from the face, scalp, décolleté and neck to the sensitive skin around the eyes. Treatment with these new, injectable exosomes offers a natural way of rejuvenating and improving the skin by stimulating the body's own processes.
At an aesthetic medicine conference a few years ago, Dr. Linde sat next to a Korean doctor whose facial skin looked velvetier and beautiful than he had ever seen before. Of course, Dr. Linde had to ask his colleague about her skin, and she said very briefly: "That would be the effect of exosomes." Dr. Linde is thrilled and delighted to be able to offer this incredible treatment in our clinic.
Exosomes are tiny vesicles found in all human cells and represent natural cellular products. They play a central role in communication between cells. Exosomes contain cell-renewing proteins and growth factors that stimulate collagen production and contribute to improved skin texture, elasticity, and hydration. Due to their regenerative properties, they are used in aesthetic medicine to:
The application of exosomes is considered biostimulatory therapy – a sustainable form of regenerative medicine.
The exosomes we use in our clinic are derived from the Rose of Jericho. Unlike animal-derived exosomes, they are entirely safe for cosmetic use.
Exosome treatment is ideal for individuals seeking natural skin rejuvenation or hair growth. Exosomes are safe and generally well tolerated.
For skin treatments, exosomes promote cell renewal, reduce wrinkles, and help lighten pigmentation, leading to a more refreshed appearance and even skin tone.
In hair treatments, exosomes strengthen hair follicles, reduce hair loss, and revitalise brittle hair by supplying essential nutrients.
No special preparation is required. We typically combine the treatment with PRP (platelet-rich plasma) to enhance its effect.
The procedure lasts around 30 minutes and is minimally painful – only the PRP injections may cause slight discomfort. On request, we can perform the treatment completely pain-free using a brief twilight sedation.
The PRP is derived from your own blood and mixed with exosomes, then injected into the treatment areas using a fine needle. You can return to your daily activities immediately after the session.
Mild swelling or redness may occur in the treated areas but usually subsides quickly. No other side effects are known.
You may gently cool the skin if needed. Avoid sports, saunas, and tanning beds for a few days. We also recommend consistent sun protection with SPF 50 (e.g. our DR. NL Sunscreen) and a hydrating daytime serum (e.g. DR. NL Firming Serum).
Visible results typically appear within a few weeks and continue to improve over time. In most cases, the final result lasts up to one year. We generally recommend 2–3 sessions spaced 2–3 weeks apart.
Typically, 3–4 sessions are needed every 2–3 weeks. For maintenance, we recommend one treatment every three months.
