When men suffer from hyperhidrosis, they sweat heavily even at moderate temperatures and with little physical exertion. Heavy sweating in men is twice as common as in women and can have various causes. Often no cause is found. Excessive sweating in men can be due to a predisposition or lifestyle, but can also be a sign of illness.

Sudden outbreaks of sweating in men can be caused by diet (e.g., spicy food, alcohol), stress or obesity, but can also be due to the material of clothing. Night sweats are another unpopular complaint among middle-aged men. In most cases, heavy night sweats in men are harmless and easily treatable. However, if night sweats occur more frequently and are accompanied by other symptoms, a doctor should be consulted. Sweating in the genital area is another unpleasant condition in men, mainly due to the unpleasant odor. This problem is best solved by shaving or laser hair removal. This is because there are also numerous sweat glands on the buttocks, where sweat and bacteria like to cling to the body hair, which is responsible for the odor.

What to do about excessive sweating?

If the causes are known, dietary changes and lifestyle adjustments can regulate sweating in men. Otherwise, it is possible to treat hyperhidrosis cosmetically. At the BEAUTYCLINIC, we offer two methods without any significant side effects: Injections and miraDry.

Injections against heavy sweating in men

By injecting BTX A into the area around the sweat glands, the nerves that activate sweat production are blocked. The injections can be administered to all parts of the body where excessive sweating occurs: in the armpits, on the hands, feet, head, back or chest. The treatment is effective for approx. 4 to 12 months, as long as the sweat glands are "paralyzed", after which the treatment can be repeated regularly. This method is officially approved for the treatment of hyperhidrosis and is covered by some health insurance companies (supplementary insurance). Hyperhidrosis treatment with BTX is a quick and almost painless therapy. Treatment of the hands and feet is carried out under sedation to minimize pain.

Permanent treatment of sweat glands with miraDry

Radiofrequency heat is used to destroy the fine sweat glands in the skin, while simultaneous cooling prevents damage to the skin. miraDry is the first FDA-approved method for permanent sweat reduction under the armpits. A major advantage is that hyperhidrosis can normally be treated permanently in a single session. Only in rare cases, with very severe hyperhidrosis, does the treatment have to be repeated. The miraDry treatment takes approx. 60-90 minutes and is carried out under local anesthesia or in twilight sleep. You can find more information about the procedure here.
