FAQs on the topic Breast modeling

What types of breast implants can I choose from, and what are the pros and cons?

There are two types of implants: anatomical (teardrop-shaped) and round. At our clinic, we only use implants with a textured surface – similar to velvet or suede. This structure helps prevent movement within the breast pocket and reduces the risk of capsular contracture compared to smooth implants, which are now rarely used.

Anatomical implants tend to look more natural as they mimic the natural shape of the breast.

Can I choose any size?

During your consultation, you can view and feel different implants and share your desired size. In general, you can choose the size you want as long as your tissue can accommodate it. For very large implants, pre-expansion with "expanders" may be required. As part of our expert consultation, we’ll recommend an implant that best suits your body and expectations.

What are the risks and complications – and how common are they?

As with any surgery, there are risks such as infection, bleeding, and scarring. Our sterile surgical technique keeps infection rates below 1%. We also administer a short-acting antibiotic during surgery to reduce risks further.

Bleeding typically occurs within the first 24 hours and can usually be managed with compression. If not, surgical intervention may be needed.

Scar formation is a natural healing response. If scarring occurs, it can be corrected later under local anesthesia.

The main specific risk is capsular contracture (internal scarring around the implant). The body encapsulates all foreign bodies – including implants – but if the reaction is too strong, the breast may harden. If pain or visible deformity arises, the implant may need to be replaced. With the modern textured implants we use (Polytech Silimed), the capsular contracture rate is under 5% (compared to over 30% with older smooth implants).

What will the scars look like?

With minimally invasive fat or filler treatments, no visible scars are expected. With implants, a small scar may be visible depending on the incision site. We place incisions in the natural breast fold, making them barely noticeable over time.

How long do implants last?

High-quality implants now come with a lifetime manufacturer’s warranty. The only reasons for replacement would be damage or capsular contracture.

Does flying affect the implants (due to cabin pressure changes)?

Flying, diving, or sauna use has no effect on the implants.

Is fat grafting to the breast safe?

Yes. Fat transfer has become a popular, low-risk option for enhancing the breast, face, buttocks, and other areas. Increased demand for fat transfer is due to both the silicone implant scandals and major advances in technique. Today, up to 70% of transferred fat can survive and integrate into the breast. Past issues like cysts and calcifications are rare.

Modern techniques like water-jet assisted liposuction (WAL or BEAULI™) allow for gentle harvesting of fat, preserving stem cells and ensuring high survival rates. This technique is even used in post-mastectomy breast reconstruction.

Is fat transfer possible for all breast types?

Fat transfer is generally possible, but it cannot tighten or lift sagging breasts. Ideal candidates are women with naturally shaped breasts who want to increase volume, or those who have lost fullness in the upper breast. If reshaping is needed, a breast lift, implant, or a combination is required.

How long does fat stay in the breast?

Once integrated, the fat is permanent and functions like natural breast tissue, influenced by hormonal changes.

Are there any disadvantages to fat transfer breast augmentation?

The only real downside is the need for liposuction to harvest the fat. However, most patients see this as a bonus, as unwanted fat can be removed while enhancing the breasts.

What does a breast enhanced with fat feel like?

Breasts augmented with fat feel completely natural. There are no scars – only a tiny 1 mm entry point may be visible.
