The innovation in the field of aesthetic medicine is skin rejuvenation and biostimulation with so-called autologous blood therapy (vampire lifting), in which the extract is obtained from the patient's own blood. This is a special preparation of blood containing highly concentrated blood proteins and platelets that stimulate cell regeneration, collagen synthesis and skin renewal. Like other fillers and injections, this concentrate is injected where the patient wants to have wrinkles treated.
Autologous blood therapy is absolutely natural and highly effective unlike other injection materials. Autologous blood stimulates cell renewal by stimulating the growth of collagen, skin and subcutaneous cells. The effect is more long-lasting but also takes longer to become visible. The rejuvenating factors are extracted directly from the blood, so foreign substances can be avoided.
A special extract of platelet-rich blood plasma with cytokines (growth factors) is obtained from the body's own blood by centrifugation. Scientifically, this process is known as "autologous blood therapy".
Injecting the skin with autologous blood leads to the release of fibroblasts and activation of connective tissue cells, which in turn stimulate the production of elastin and collagen. The production of hyaluronic acid increases, which binds more water and stores moisture. The injected blood plasma attracts mesenchymal stem cells, which then activate the natural process of tissue regeneration with the formation of new collagen. The result of autologous cell plasma therapy is an improved skin appearance with renewal of the skin and connective tissue from within. Wrinkles are smoothened out, and the skin looks healthier and more vital. In contrast to treatments with BTX or hyaluronic acid – where the results are visible for a maximum of 6 months – the results of autologous blood therapy last up to 2 years.
Tired and old-looking faces usually need volume, especially in the midface (see Nefertiti Lift). Surgery such as a face lift often does not produce the desired result because, although it tightens, it cannot regenerate the missing volume.
Autologous fat is best suited for adding volume as it is the body's own fat and therefore does not cause any allergic reactions. The combination of autologous fat and simultaneous injection with autologous plasma has proven to be particularly effective. The autologous fat is injected deep under the skin, e.g., in the cheek area. The autologous blood, on the other hand, is only injected superficially, i.e. directly under the skin or sometimes even into the skin. In some cases, a face only requires a small amount of volume, which is why hyaluronic acid is used. Additional treatment is used for severe mimic wrinkles. Which materials are selected for treatment in each individual case is determined on a case-by-case basis.

The first step is to take a blood sample, which is why this method is also known as "vampire lifting". The preparation of the patient's own blood in the laboratory takes around 20 minutes and the extract must then be injected immediately. In the case of simultaneous treatment with autologous fat, the procedure takes 1-2 hours because the autologous fat must be "extracted" and prepared in addition to the autologous blood.
If desired, the painless procedure can be used so that the patient falls into a twilight sleep and is unaware of the treatment itself.
Because autologous blood is the body's own product, there are no allergic or other reactions. The only known possible side effects are the consequences of the injection (i.e., slight reddening of the injection site or a small bruise).
